Clean Up Days Information
We're reaching out to inform you about changes to our annual Village Clean Up Days, scheduled for May 6th to May 11th this year. Traditionally, we've conducted door-to-door clean-up in collaboration with a licensed waste management agency, an arrangement that has served us well in the past. However, we've encountered an unforeseen challenge this year.
At the end of last month, the company informed us of a significant increase in the cost of providing this service. The proposed cost surged from $10,000 to a staggering $27,260. As stewards of taxpayer dollars, we found it prudent to reassess this expenditure.
Given the substantial increase, we've decided to adopt a more cost-effective approach for this year's clean-up days. Instead of door-to-door service, we'll implement an on-site waste collection service at the Public Works facility, 580 East Cox Street (east past Casey’s and down the street). This will take place from May 6th to May 11th (Monday through Saturday), between the hours of 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
To participate, residents must show identification verifying their residency in Forsyth. As in the past we are unable to collect certain items, including hazardous waste, concrete, tires, paint, oil, yard waste and treated wood. There will be an area on location where metal and electronics can be deposited. We are also actively collaborating with local groups to provide alternative solutions for the disposal of items for elderly and disabled residents. (Please reach out if your group is interested).
We understand that this change may inconvenience some of you, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption caused. Our primary goal remains to provide a clean and safe environment for our community while utilizing taxpayer resources responsibly. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this adjustment together.
